Principal Architect
Josh Meharry
Registered Architect
LEED Accredited Professional
I formed Anima Architects out of a desire to collaborate more directly with clients in order to realize and hopefully even exceed their highest aspirations for their particular project while bringing joy to their daily experience in that space.
Prior to this, I spent nearly 20 years working with two of the premier Architectural firms in the Pacific Northwest, collaborating on the design, project management, client and consultant interactions, and construction management for a wide range of projects types including custom single family residential, multi-family residential, mixed use/ commercial, office, retail, educational/ trade, and master planning developments. These years of experience gave me a passion for sustainable approaches to design, systems, materials, and construction as well as an interest in expressing materials and structural systems in an honest and straightforward way.
Outside of the office or construction site, I can be found exploring nature and enjoying a wide variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, skiing, overlanding, and paddle boarding. I’ve found that connecting with nature keeps me balanced and leaves me feeling refreshed. Travel has always been another passion of mine. Whether the destination is close to home or further afield, travel has given me the opportunity to experience cultures, practices, foods and architecture that differ from what I’ve typically known, broadening my perspective and opening my eyes to new possibilities.
Project Manager
Hugo Carrión Berru
Registered Architect
Hugo Carrion is a Registered Architect in the State of Washington, whose passion for architecture was sparked by a technical drawing class in high school. Originally from Ecuador, Hugo earned his Bachelor’s in Architecture from the Catholic University of Quito.
Since relocating to Seattle in 2009, Hugo has cultivated a diverse and comprehensive background in the architecture and construction industries. His professional experience spans various critical roles, including Project Manager, Architectural Associate, freelance drafter, and expertise in areas like ADA compliance and carpentry. Committed to continuous growth, Hugo has furthered his technical skills through Construction Management classes and a Digital Design and Fabrication certificate.
Hugo’s portfolio is broad, encompassing mixed-use developments, adaptive reuse projects, and commercial and educational tenant improvements. However, his greatest professional satisfaction comes from working on single-family homes. He values the close, collaborative process with clients, allowing their specific needs and desires to directly inform the design, with the ultimate goal of creating unique, functional, and welcoming spaces.
In his spare time, Hugo enjoys sketching, playing and watching soccer, and discovering new destinations. He and his wife are busy raising two smart, beautiful boys. Community engagement is also very important to Hugo and his family, and they love being part of local initiatives, including often meeting with fellow Ecuadorians to enjoy typical dishes and games.
